Ask us how we do it at the Y- it's awesome!What is needed to be a Swim Instructor:Age 15+Experience with kids and passionate about teaching children to swimAbility to pass American Red Cross CPR CertificationAbility to complete our in-water skills assessmentThe responsibilities we will trust you with as our Swim Instructor:Working with groups and individuals to help them achieve their swim-skill goalsEnsuring that lessons are conducted in accordance with the YMCA's internal lesson plans and policiesSetting and cleaning up equipment for lessonsCommunicating with participants and their guardians about lesson progress and goalsEnsuring a safe, nurturing environment for the students to thrive inWorking collaboratively with aquatics staff, lifeguards, and supervisors to support overall pool operations and programmingParticipating in staff training and in-service meetingsLevel 1 Swim Instructor should have the experience in:Supporting swim lesson instructors teaching to small groups, following established curriculaMonitoring participants to ensure safety and proper techniqueProviding feedback and encouragement to participants to support their progressSetting and cleaning up equipment for lessonsMaintaining a minimum of 5 hours a week of group and/or private lessonsLevel 2 Swim Instructor should have the additional expertise:Teaching swimming lessons to individuals or small groups, following established curriculaMonitoring participants to ensure safety and proper techniqueProviding feedback and encouragement to participants to support their progressProviding one-on-one swim instruction tailored to the client's goals and skill levelDeveloping and implementing customized lesson plans to improve client abilitiesMaintaining accurate scheduling of private and semi-private participants using scheduling systemMaintaining a minimum of 5 hours a week of group and/or private lessonsLevel 3 Swim Instructor should have the additional expertise in:Mentoring new instructorsProviding advanced swim instruction to clients, addressing specific goals and challengesMentoring Level I instructors, offering guidance and support on best practicesManaging a large book of clients and classes (12 hours minimum/week part-time, 24 hours minimum/week full-time during peak times of 3:30PM - 8:30PM weekdays and 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM weekends)Facilitating staff trainingsWhat you can expect:Rewarding and Dynamic workdaysSupport from an amazing teamOpportunities to learn & grow at the YMCABeing a part of a non-profit organization that works to make the community strongerYMCA is an Equal Opportunity Employer All Qualified Women, Minorities, Persons with Disabilities, and US Veterans Encouraged to ApplyAfter reading this, if you're thinking this is me- we want to meet you!Get the ball rolling with our quick, 3-minute online application.
