About the job Sample Cutter/slitter operator Job Description: Sample Cutter/Slitter OperatorReporting Relationships, Work Assignments, and Work Schedules May be subject to change to meet company needs and business requirements.Responsibilities and AccountabilitiesCarry out roping of pipes as per approved Work Instruction, Process Sheet, and Customer SpecificationEnsure sufficient stock of rope pallets and cut ropes ready for usemayCross-check marking details with barcode for Pipe Size, Pipe No., Length, Heat No., and Acceptance Serial Number (ASL) for every pipe cleared from VDI StationEnsure two rope wraps at each end of the pipes: one on 12 seam from pipe end and the second at 34 seam from pipe endMark Blue band (Blue Aerosol Spray) on both ends for pipe length less than 65 feetMark Red band (Red Aerosol Spray) on both ends for rejected pipes with Rejected stencil in Inside Diameter (ID) and barcodeMark Yellow band (Yellow Aerosol Spray) on both ends for Double Joint (DJ) pup pieces with DJ stencil in ID and barcodeCheck for yellow ribbon tape if pipe is going back for rework from VDI Station; verify API monogram and length are removed, and record in rework bookPerform SAP VDI Station entry and fill ASL Log Book report at VDI benchEnsure Pipe ID/Outside Diameter (OD) is clean; stencil in ID and OD should be 12" away from pipe endsStay in approved work area; never work between pipesAlways press Lock Out Tag Out switch (E-Stop) before starting ropingMaintain general housekeeping in the work areaOther duties as assigned by Team Lead/SupervisorNote: Additional responsibilities not listed here may be assigned at times.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesNonePreferred Skills / CompetenciesOral Communication: Listens and seeks clarificationAbility to read and understand Process Sheets and Work InstructionsWritten Communication: Reads and understands written informationProfessionalism: Treats others with respect regardless of status or positionSafety and Security: Uses equipment properly and follows safe work practicesAttendance/Punctuality: Consistently at work and on timeDependability: Follows instructions and responds to management directionAbility to work with limited supervisionAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memosAbility to write simple correspondence and effectively report informationAbility to perform basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication) and interpret datasheets/graphsProblem-solving skills with ability to follow written, oral, or diagram instructionsBasic computer skillsEducation and/or ExperienceHigh School diploma or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience preferredReading and writing in English requiredBilingual (Spanish) is an advantageCertificates, Licenses, RegistrationsNonePhysical DemandsStand, walk, bend, climb stairs, and use hands/fingers to operate equipmentOccasionally lift and move up to 50 lbsCrawl inside pipes when requiredVision abilities include depth perception and ability to adjust/focusWork EnvironmentExposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and risk of electric shockAmbient and above-ambient temperaturesNoise level is usually loudPPE Requirements (Mandatory at ATP)Safety vestHard hatGlovesSafety glassesSteel-toe boots
