A temporary seasonal three (3) up to four (4) month position under the direct supervision of the assigned Superintendent in the Parks/Streets division and under the general supervision of the Parks & Public Works Director & Deputy Director. We believe diversity and inclusion among our teammates is critical to the success of our City operations.Examples of DutiesScope of Responsibility:Performs a variety of maintenance activities including, but not limited to: restroom cleaning, emptying trash cans, mowing, pruning, weeding, mulching, watering, brush cutting, fertilizing and assisting maintenance personnel.Assists in maintenance of facilities in City parks and public works, including janitorial and minor repair activities as directed.This position is expected to operate and perform general maintenance of a variety of equipment, including but not limited to: mowers, weed trimmers, spray painting equipment and other light equipment, machinery, hand and power tools.This is not designed to be a comprehensive listing of all activities, duties and responsibilities required of the job. Other duties may be assigned and/or performed.Typical QualificationsKnowledge and Abilities:Knowledge of materials, equipment, and maintenance methods.Knowledge of and ability to follow jobsite safety procedures and comply with the established safety plan.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Division Supervisors and lead workers, Parks & Public Works leadership, Parks & Public Works maintenance workers, other fellow employees, property owners and the public.Ability to operate small power lawn and maintenance equipment.Ability to receive and follow written & oral instructions.Ability to be coachable.Ability to collaborate on a regular basis.Ability to demonstrate accountability.Ability to work in a team and work independently with little oversight and without frequent reminders.Education and Training:High School diploma or GED.Valid Washington driver's license with a good driving record.Certification in First Aid/CPR desirable.Ability to pass a standard background and reference check.Must be 18 years of age.
