Assistant Controller
Responsibilities• Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff while promoting adherence to established accounting policies and procedures• Lead and manage month/year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations and financial statement preparation• Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual financial reports ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP• Oversee all job costing functions ensuring costs are accurately captured, allocated and reported• Review project budgets, committed costs, change orders, labor allocation, equipment utilization, subcontractor costs and overall project profitability• Partner with project managers and operations leadership to monitor project financial performance and provide cost analysis and forecasting• Analyze job cost reports and investigate cost variances, identifying risks and opportunities for improved project profitability• Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial reporting processes• Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planning activities• Support audits and serve as a primary point of contact for external auditors, lenders, and tax professionals• Manage fixed assets, depreciation schedules, and construction-related accounting functions• Identify and implement process improvements to streamline accounting operations and enhance financial visibility across projects• Support financial system enhancements and reporting initiativesRequirements• Minimum 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within commercial demolition, excavation, construction, heavy civil, industrial services, or other project-based industries with transferable experience• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
