Acquisition Manager
Job Summary
The Acquisition Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the used vehicle department for a GM and Stellantis dealership, including acquisition, reconditioning, pricing, merchandising, inventory control, and profitability. This role ensures the used car operation meets volume, gross, and turn targets while maintaining manufacturer, lender, and dealership standards.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Acquisition & Management
Source used vehicles through auctions, trade-ins, off-lease programs, and dealer trades
Appraise trade-ins accurately using market data, and dealership policy
Maintain optimal inventory mix by brand, price point, age, and mileage
Manage inventory turn goals and aging policies
Pricing & Merchandising
Set competitive pricing based on market data, OEM programs, and dealership profit objectives
Ensure vehicles are properly merchandised online with accurate descriptions and photos
Monitor online listings across third-party platforms and dealership website
Adjust pricing strategies to maximize gross and market competitiveness
Reconditioning & Lot Operations
Oversee reconditioning process to control costs and minimize time-to-line
Work with service department to ensure timely and cost-effective repairs
Ensure used vehicles meet GM and Stellantis CPO standards when applicable
Maintain lot standards, vehicle presentation, and compliance
Sales Performance
Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly used car performance metrics
Compliance & Reporting
Ensure compliance with all dealership policies
Maintain accurate inventory records, title status, and documentation
Prepare reports on used car sales, gross, aging, and inventory levels
Recommended Qualifications
3–5 years of automotive sales management or used car management experience
Strong understanding of products, programs, and CPO requirements
Proven ability to appraise vehicles and manage inventory profitably
Experience with auction platforms, vAuto, or similar inventory tools preferred
Strong leadership, negotiation, and analytical skills
Valid PA driver's license and clean driving record
Preferred Skills
Knowledge of current market trends and vehicle valuation tools
Strong organizational and time-management abilities
Ability to work in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment
Excellent communication and customer service skills
