Controller - Growth Stage Fintech CompanyWho We're Looking For:You are a hands-on, technically strong Controller who has "been there, done that” in high-growth fintech company (SAAS). You thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and are comfortable rolling up your sleeves while also building scalable processes. You've likely taken at least one fintech or SaaS company from $5M → $50M+ ARR and understand the unique accounting complexities of financial software products.Key ResponsibilitiesOwn all accounting operations: general ledger, month-end close, technical accounting, revenue recognition (ASC 606), financial reporting, and consolidations.Manage and accelerate the monthly/quarterly close process (target: 5–8 business days).Serve as the in-house expert on complex fintech accounting topics, including:Payment facilitator or money transmitter accountingCard program revenue share and interchange accountingLoan portfolio accounting (originations, CECL/ALLL if applicable)SAFEs, warrants, embedded derivatives, and other startup equity instrumentsCrypto/digital asset accounting (if relevant)Prepare or oversee GAAP financial statements, footnotes, flux analyses, and board/investor packages.Lead technical accounting memos and policy documentation for new products/features.Own equity administration (Carta or similar) and cap table management.Coordinate and manage external audits, tax provision (ASC 740), and regulatory/compliance reporting (e.g., state money transmitter licenses, FinCEN, SOC 2).Implement and maintain a best-in-class tech stack (NetSuite)Partner closely with FP&A on budgeting, forecasting, and KPIs (ARR, gross margin, take rate, loss rates, unit economics).Support fundraising (due diligence, financial models, data room) and M&A diligence if applicable.RequirementsCPA strongly preferred (active license a bonus).5 – 10 years of relevant experience, with at least 3–5 years in fintech, payments, lending, or banking-as-a-service.Deep knowledge of US GAAP; IFRS experience a plus.Proven track record of building and scaling accounting in a Series A–C environment.NetSuite power user (or similar mid-market ERP); experience leading an implementation is a major plus.Extreme attention to detail combined with the ability to zoom out and prioritize.Excellent communication skills—you can explain complex accounting topics to non-finance executives and investors.Bonus PointsPrior experience at high-growth fintechs Experience with banking partnershipsExposure to regulatory exams or licensing Startup equity experience (409A valuations, option modeling).If you've helped scale a fintech from messy early days to clean, audit-ready financials and want to do it again—this is your role.
