As a national leader in coastal conservation and environmental education, we transform park visitors into park stewards.JOB SUMMARYThe Retail Lead is responsible for supporting operations across three store locations by ensuring smooth merchandise flow, upholding store standards, and providing excellent customer service. This role requires previous retail experience and a reliable vehicle for transporting merchandise between locations. The position requires 24–30 hours per week, including working at all three locations and occasional weekend shifts. We are looking for a reliable, organized individual who enjoys interacting with the public, has great organizational skills and attention to detail, and is familiar with and/or desires to learn more about our retail stores and park.REPORTS TOSusan Oertel (Senior Retail Manager)ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONSProvide excellent customer serviceWork alongside retail staff to uphold store standardsMove merchandise from storage areas to stores and consolidate backstockReceive and tag merchandisePull and transport transfers for LH and Beach Store, stocking merchandise as neededPerform administrative tasks, including staff scheduling, cycle counts, transferring inventory in Square, and bank depositsRun daily store operations and sales independently across locations. This includes opening and closing procedures, stocking and restocking store shelves, folding, refolding, and organizing store merchandise as needed, keeping the store tidy throughout the day, processing shipments as needed, and as time allowsAssist with inventory shipment processing, keeping inventory storage areas organized, and assist with physical packing and transfers of inventory to other store locations, and accurately input these transfers into our point of sale (POS) systemShare information and knowledge of PRNSA and its missionSell new and renewing PRNSA membershipsShare your knowledge of the park with customersSupport the Senior Retail Manager with inventory tracking and cycle countsCount cash and make depositsAdjust pricing and receive shipments into the POSOther duties as assignedDESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCEPrevious retail sales experienceAble to work independently and with othersFamiliarity with Google and Microsoft suitesAttention to detail, able to keep the store neat and visually appealingAble to successfully complete all functions of daily store operations independently, including all opening and closing proceduresSquare POS experience or equivalentCustomer service experienceSchedule flexibility, occasionally able to sub for other staff for vacations and/or illnessAppreciation for the parkReliable transportation is needed for our Bear Valley, Beach Store, and Lighthouse locationsPHYSICAL DEMANDThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This role will be 100% in-person. Employees will be paid for driving time and mileage from Bear Valley (headquarters) to and from the Beach Store, the Lighthouse, or any other location that necessitates work outside of headquarters.PAY & BENEFITS$27-$31/hour (DOE), non-exempt. The position includes paid sick and vacation leave as well as holiday pay and a 403(b) plan with 5% employer match.WORK ENVIRONMENTThe work environment is an open retail setting.
