Platform Architect

Platform Architect Location: Centennial, CO (Hybrid / In-Office) Company: Yield Solutions Group Reports to: Director of Platform Development The Role Yield Solutions Group (YSG) is seeking a Platform Architect to join our Platform Development Team and play a key role in guiding our engineering team leads through technical leadership and architectural vision, ensuring our platform can scale to meet growing demand from consumers and lending partners. This position reports to Director of Platform Development. You will work closely with the Director of Platform Development, development team leads, and the Product Team to establish architectural standards, guide technical decisions, and ensure our platform is built on a solid foundation that supports both current operations and future growth. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in enterprise software development, experience working in financial systems and regulated environments, and a passion for building scalable, reliable technology solutions that enable business success. This role is well-suited for someone who enjoys defining and driving an architectural vision through collaborative technical leadership, working across teams to solve complex challenges, and contributing to a platform that enables both innovation and operational excellence. Responsibilities Define and own the architectural vision and technical roadmap for YSG's platform, ensuring it supports current business needs and scales to accommodate future growth Establish and maintain development standards, best practices, and architectural guidelines that ensure code quality, maintainability, and system reliability across all development teams Partner with the Product Team to assess technical feasibility, scope, and timelines for new requirements, collaborating to find optimal solutions that balance business objectives with technical constraints and cost considerations Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development team leads, guiding architectural decisions and ensuring consistent implementation of the architectural vision across all teams Guide the development teams in adopting AI-assisted development tools and best practices to improve efficiency and output while ensuring developers maintain deep understanding of the codebase and uphold code quality standards Conduct technical reviews and work directly with development teams to troubleshoot complex issues, validate architectural approaches, and adapt the vision based on real-world constraints and discoveries Drive continuous improvement in engineering practices, including code review processes, testing strategies, deployment procedures, and system monitoring Ensure platform architecture supports the security, compliance, and regulatory requirements relevant to YSG’s business Participate in strategic planning sessions, technical design reviews, and cross-functional meetings that shape YSG's technology direction Uphold YSG's commitment to engineering excellence, delivering reliable systems that serve consumers and lending partners with the highest standards of quality and performance Required Skills & Experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field 8+ years of software development experience with at least 3 years in an architecture or senior technical leadership role Deep expertise in enterprise Java and JavaScript web development, including modern frameworks, design patterns, and architectural best practices Proven experience designing and implementing scalable, distributed systems in financial services, fintech, or other regulated industries Strong understanding of security best practices, compliance requirements, and data protection standards in regulated environments Excellent communication skills with ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including product teams and executive leadership Experience mentoring and leading technical teams, with demonstrated ability to guide architectural decisions and drive consensus across multiple development teams Ability to balance strategic architectural vision with pragmatic, incremental implementation approaches and work effectively in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities Nice to Have Experience with AWS and cloud-native architecture patterns Familiarity with loan origination systems, credit decisioning platforms, or financial services integration architectures Experience with microservices architecture, API design, and service-oriented architectures Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and infrastructure as code Experience with database design, data retention requirements, and privacy/data protection standards in regulated environments Compensation & Benefits Base Salary: $160,000 - $200,000 annually, commensurate with experience Bonus/Incentive Eligibility: Performance-based bonus potential tied to platform performance, technical excellence, and team development goals Benefits: Comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), PTO, career development opportunities, and the chance to join Denver's Best Place to Work (2024 & 2025) with a dynamic culture focused on internal promotion and employee growth.
