Utility Design Engineer
ELEMENT Engineering Group is currently seeking a Utility Design Engineer. This individual will prepare designs for various utilities on roadway/transportation-related design through the preparation of reports, CADD production, and plans for transportation related projects. They will ensure completion, accuracy, and compliance to standard engineering criteria.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesIdentification of existing utilities and preliminary plans reading.Establishing contact with the utility agencies/owners (UAO).Development of plans, profiles, specifications, and estimates for various utility design projects on municipal and transportation projects.Situational problem-solving abilities with various utility engineering circumstances and with multiple stake holders.Prepare reports, calculations, estimates, and plans for transportation-related projects.Prepare engineering construction drawings of preliminary and final plan sets.Work with internal and external engineering teams in developing preliminary and final design plans and details.Effectively communicate and coordinate with other members of the design team and across disciplines.Capable of determining material types, descriptions, and quantities for the projectRegularly interface with other departments, clients, project managers, and project engineers in order to support production of project deliverables and to resolve conflicting priorities.Develop Utility Work by Highway Contractor packages.Working with major Utility Owners with facilities of electric, gas, water, sanitary, CATV, and communications, along with local municipalities.RequirementsProfessional Engineer (PE) registered in Florida, or an Engineering Intern (EI) prepared to take the PE Exam5+ Years of relevant experienceBachelor’s degree in Civil EngineeringExperience in preparing reports, plans, calculations, estimates, and designs for roadway and drainage projectsKnowledge of transportation engineering standards, including the FDOT Design Manual, FDOT Standard Plans, and AASHTO GreenbookExcellent technical, written, and oral communication skillsStrong working knowledge of MicroStation, experience with Open Roads is a plusAbility to work for any employer in the United States.About ELEMENTAt ELEMENT, we serve the communities where we live, work and play.
