Commercial Vehicle Drivetrain & Chassis Specialist Public transportation depends on precision. When a bus pulls into the depot with a charging fault, you isolate the issue and restore the system. An hour later, you're machining valves for an overhaul; by day's end, a rebuilt transmission is back on the road. Your craft keeps riders connected to work, school, and home.Your impact Execute complete diesel tune-ups, overhauls, and component repairsPerform full gasoline engine overhauls and ignition diagnostics with scope analysisRebuild light- and heavy-duty transmissionsHandle machining operations including valve grindingOverhaul differentialsService air-spring and hydraulic suspension systemsMaintain pneumatic brake and steering systems and related accessoriesService hydraulic brake and steering systems and associated accessoriesDiagnose and repair starting and charging electrical systemsRepair chassis wiring and install/accessorize auxiliary systemsMaintain vehicle HVAC (heating and air conditioning)Install and remove fareboxesApply general welding techniquesPerform minor body repairs and panel replacementsWhat you'll need on day one A complete mechanic's tool set (excluding special tools) up to 11⁄4 inch wrenches/sockets and metric tools up to 20 mmValid State of Michigan driver's license and a clean five (5) year driving record submitted with your applicationMichigan Chauffeur-based "BP" temporary instruction CDL permit (T.I.P.) prior to your start dateYour first 30–90 days Obtain an Industrial Forklift permit within 30 days of employmentEarn a State of Michigan Group B CDL with Passenger and Air Brake Endorsement within 90 days of hireHow we operate Our maintenance operation runs 7 days a week. You should be ready for any shift.
