Senior Software Engineer – AI-Driven Engineering (PCB / Computational Design)An advanced aerospace and defense technology organization is building a next-generation AI-driven engineering platform designed to dramatically accelerate hardware development. This team is focused on applying agentic AI to complex engineering problems, enabling rapid design, simulation, and validation of high-performance systems across aerospace and electronics domains. They are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the development of AI-powered applications focused on PCB and hardware design automation, working at the intersection of software, physics, and real-world engineering constraints.Role OverviewIn this role, you will lead the development of intelligent systems that generate and evaluate engineering designs, particularly within electronics and PCB workflows. You will help bridge the gap between simulation, CAD/ECAD tooling, and manufacturability, ensuring AI-generated designs are both technically sound and production-ready.You will also play a key role in shaping the roadmap for these applications, mentoring engineers, and collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams across hardware, software, and manufacturing.Key ResponsibilitiesLead development of AI-driven tools for automated PCB and hardware design workflowsBuild and optimize workflows connecting ECAD, simulation tools, and AI agentsIntegrate manufacturability constraints into design generation and validation processesDevelop and apply optimization techniques for generating production-ready designsCollaborate with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to validate designs against real-world constraintsMentor engineers and contribute to technical direction across the teamPartner with platform teams to align application requirements with system capabilitiesDrive innovation in simulation, design automation, and AI-enabled engineering workflowsRequired QualificationsAdvanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computational Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experienceExperience designing and analyzing real-world hardware systems, ideally in aerospace, defense, or high-reliability environmentsExperience across both PCB and mechanical design domainsStrong programming skills in Python or C++Experience with ECAD tools (e.g., Altium) or CAD/CAE platformsFamiliarity with simulation methods such as SPICE, FEA, or related toolsProven experience leading technical projects and mentoring engineersStrong problem-solving mindset with a hands-on, builder-oriented approachPreferred QualificationsKnowledge of design optimization techniques (topology, shape, or generative methods)Experience with automated PCB layout, routing, or schematic generationExposure to AI/ML applied to engineering workflowsHands-on experience with manufacturing processes (e.g., PCB fabrication, prototyping)Background in physics domains such as electromagnetics, thermals, or fluid systemsPersonal or professional projects demonstrating a passion for building complex systems
