Work ArrangementThis is a full-time on site position that is part of our Internship Program.Job OverviewAEVEX Aerospace is hiring a Aeromechanical Engineering Intern to work in our Tactical Systems engineering department. Envision, design, and develop products and systems as an integrated member of the engineering team. You will work closely with engineering teams across AEVEX to create solutions and systems that meet the evolving needs of our customers. You will participate in all phases of product development and will be part of a group of hardworking engineers whose expertise ensures the success of engineering projects and programs. You’ll have the opportunity develop and refine technical skills working alongside industry experts in aircraft design, avionics and autonomy.The AEVEX Internship Program gives individuals who are early in their career the opportunity to gain valuable learning opportunities while discussing goals, evaluating performance and receiving regular feedback. This Engineering Intern will work along side the Tactical Systems Engineering Team through a variety of disciplines to envision, design, and develop products and systems while developing and refining their technical skills.Essential FunctionsAssist with part, assembly, and drawing creation using Solidworks CAD programAssist with the fabrication of prototype designs including machining, 3d printing, and composite layup manufacturingPerform hand calculations for aircraft performance, structural analysis, and dynamic testingTroubleshoot mechanical and electrical systemsCollaborate with manager to establish internship goals and steps on achieving those goals throughout duration of the programPerforming field tests on equipment and document resultsResearch solutions to new products components and recommend upgradesPerform other duties as assigned.Standard Essential FunctionsRegular and reliable attendance on a full time basis [or in accordance with posted schedule].Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal and external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company's policies and practices.Embodies AEVEX’s cultural values and aligns daily actions with department goals and company culture.QualificationsDemonstrates a strong willingness to work effectively as part of a team.Focused on achieving goals with a clear, end-oriented approach.Capable of successfully managing and prioritizing multiple tasks.Open to acquiring new skills and embracing continuous learning opportunities.Strong verbal and written communication, paired with effective organizational abilities.Builds positive relationships that enhance team dynamics and collaboration.Maintains a sharp attention to detail with strong critical thinking skills; unafraid to question the status quo and propose innovative ideas.Education / CertificationsJunior or Senior on the path to get a Mechanical, Aerospace, and/or Aeronautical undergraduate or master’s degreeValidated academic excellence (3.0 GPA and higher)Experience Preferred Experience:Solidworks CAD experience from either school, industry, or personal projectMachining and 3 axis CAM experienceExperience with Aircraft stability and dynamic analysis using OpenVSP or equivalent3d printing and slicer experienceComposite layup experienceArdupilot and Mission Planner ExperienceRobotics and/or hobby RC aircraft experiencePhysical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
