Full-time
- Performs the construction and maintenance of the City's traffic signals and street lights by installing underground conduit; constructing foundations; and installing poles, mast arms and traffic signal equipment.
- Performs routine maintenance by changing bulbs, cleaning lenses and reflectors, and inspecting components; responds to trouble calls and troubleshoots traffic signal control systems; fabricates and installs electrical services, installs vehicle and pedestrian detection systems.
- Paints traffic control hardware; checks light output and alignment of signal heads; and may revamp or modernize existing intersections by installing new equipment while existing signals are still in operation.
- Considerable knowledge of the principles of electrical, electro-mechanical and electronics work as related to the operation, maintenance and repair of traffic signals or similar devices.
- Complete and pass Level I Traffic Signal Technician course and examination conducted by International Municipal Signal Association.
