- The Surgical Technologist (ST) functions as an integral member of a team of care providers in the Operating Rooms of the Perioperative Services at the OSU Medical Center.
- The team, consisting of the Surgeon, Anesthesiologist, Patient Care Coordinator - Registered Nurse (PCC-RN), Surgical Technologist (ST), Student Surg Tech (SST), Perioperative Technician, Anesthesia Technician and Office Assistants, provide patient care and supportive services that are directed towards achievement of maximizing patient care outcomes, improving customer service levels, reducing the length of hospitalization and decreasing costs.
- Patients and their family will experience the benefits of patient focused care through the integrated skills of all care team members.
- The ST is an unclassified professional staff position working under direct supervision of PCC-RN and under the general supervision of Perioperative Managers.
- The ST performs all tasks in a manner that is cost effective without compromising quality of care, meets hospital continuing education and certification requirements, upholds goals and objectives of the Department of Perioperative Services.
