- The Chaplain provides crisis management for YRMC patients, families, and staff utilizing Critical Incident Stress Management model.
- The staff Chaplain provides for YRMC community patients, families, and staff rituals needs which includes but is not limited to: weddings, funerals, baptisms, blessing, prayer and if incumbent cannot provide for needs themselves, it is their responsibility to resource to local faith group leader.
- Responds to spiritual care, palliative care, length of stay, and other emergent consults; assesses patient, family, or other representative’s spiritual and emotional needs; develops plan of care to respond to needs; follows up, as appropriate; maintains collaborative communication with interdisciplinary care team.
- Educates interested groups on spiritual care techniques which includes but is not limited to: stress management, relaxation breathing, guided imagery, end-of-life care planning, organ and tissue donation; maintains positive, supportive relationship between local faith groups/clergy and Spiritual Care Department; represents YRMC in positive and professional manner at community and professional meetings.
- Educates patients, families, and staff on end-of-life care planning: including Advanced Directives, Living Will, Power of Attorney, organ and tissue donation, whole body donation, end-of-life spiritual/emotional issues; completes necessary documents, when appropriate.
