- The Department of Fish and Game, Division of Marine Fisheries (DMF) seeks applicants for the position of South Shore Shellfish Program Supervisor (Environmental Analyst IV).
- Coordinates and provides technical assistance to cities and towns, other governmental agencies, private institutions, the public and the Program Leader on matters relating to shellfish in Massachusetts communities from the Bourne south to the Rhode Island boarder, including Cape Cod and the Islands.
- This includes assisting staff and local communities in the formulation of long-range shellfish management plans, designing special projects to improve shellfish harvesting or selected aquaculture techniques, and developing, reviewing and commenting on various proposals including projects, studies and legislation related to shellfish.
- Coordinates and provides technical assistance to cities and towns, state and federal agencies, private institutions, the public and Shellfish Program Manager on all matters relating to shellfish in Massachusetts, including: identification and mitigation of growing area contamination; management; biology and disease; harvest methods; stock assessment; public propagation and private aquaculture; coastal alterations, predator control, regulations and legislation.
- Acts as liaison to the MA Shellfish Officers Association (MSOA) and coordinates with MSOA Board of Directors to plan and implement shellfish constable training.
