- This position administers the County's safety and environmental health programs, ensures compliance with Federal and State of Maryland safety and occupational health mandates, regulations, and requirements, and provides training and loss control initiatives for all County operations.
- Ensures compliance with Federal and State of Maryland standards, e.g., Maryland Occupational Safety & Health (MOSH), Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR), and Howard County workplace safety policies, including the policy for drug and alcohol testing and personal protective equipment (PPE)s;
- Serves as a Subject Matter Expert and provides guidance to County employees on matters of Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR), and Howard County policy for drug and alcohol testing and Entry Level Driver Training requirements as requested.
- Certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation.
