- In this role, you will help shape the future of the greater New York region by contributing to the implementation of the MTA’s recommendations from its first Bicycle Pedestrian and Micromobility Strategic Action Plan and First Mile/Last Mile Planning process.
- More specifically, this position will be responsible for research and decision-support that contributes to the development of a program to achieve MTA’s goals for First Mile/Last Mile strategies, which are primarily to introduce ways other than the use of single occupant automobiles to access MTA’s stations and services as well as identify the critical transportation planning and internal and external investment necessary to ensure the continued mobility of the MTA region.
- Coordination with all MTA agencies and outside entities to support the implementation of the First Mile/Last Mile tools and policies created under the Plan and recommendations made in the Bicycle Pedestrian and Micromobility Strategic Action Plan (aka “Extending Transit’s Reach”)
- Development of updates to the MTA’s First Mile/Last Mile Toolkit with MTA IT by conducting peer reviews and researching best practices and updates to industry standards.
- Liaise with stakeholders in MTA’s suburban (NYS) service territory who are either currently engaged in the MTA First Mile/Last Mile pilot program or require assistance in using the First Mile/Last Mile Toolkit housed on the MTA’s web page to design their own First Mile/Last Mile programs that do not rely on driving and parking at commuter rail stations.
