- Knowledge of air brakes, hydraulics, diesel/gasoline engines, and repairs and principles of all types of vehicles, especially GMC/Chevy.
- Repair and/or rebuild subassemblies on school buses and other automotive systems, such as electrical, coolling, exhaust, steering and suspension, fuel systems, brakes, and drive train.
- Good knowledge of New York State Department of Transportation rules and regulations governing the maintenance and repairs of school buses.
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the head mechanic or Director of Transportation.
- Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate's degree in Automotive Mechanics, plus one (1) year of full-time or its part-time equivalent paid experience as an automotive mechanic or heavy equipment mechanic under the supervision of a journeyman level mechanic including diesel experience; OR,
