- The Environment and Planning division aims to protect, restore, and expand New York City Parks including green spaces and natural areas to maximize their benefits for environmental and community health and resilience.
- The Greenbelt Native Plant Center (GNPC) is the Division’s native plant nursery and seed bank.
- The Seed Increase Program (SIP) at the Greenbelt Native Plant Center farms six-acres of grasses and wildflowers sourced from the wild to provide bulk seed for ecological restoration projects in New York City.
- Oversee all aspects of the Seed Increase Program (SIP), including seed farming, advising on seed-based restoration, distributing seed to projects around the city, and leading the city’s efforts to successfully restore seeded areas to ecologically diverse conditions.
- Lead farm tasks including propagating seed for installation in fields, preparing, planting, and maintaining fields, weed management, harvesting, cleaning, and storing seed.
