- OverviewJob Summary:Akima Systems Engineering is looking for a Scientist V to work alongside EESC-LRL in conducting research designed to generate decision-relevant conservation genetic and genomic information for wild Brook Trout to support management by the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission.
- The mission of the USGS Eastern Ecological Science Center, Leetown Research Laboratory (EESC-LRL) is to excel in aquatic and natural resource science, providing the information, scientific understanding and technologies needed to support the sound management and conservation of the nation’s biological resources.
- The focus of EESC-LRL mission and vision for the future is to continue its dynamic international, national, and regional leadership in aquatic, landscape, and genetics research by generating, interpreting, evaluating, and transmitting the scientific information needed to better address the pressing problems of managing our nation's biological resources, especially those under the stewardship of the Department of the Interior, and other Federal and non-Federal partners.
- ResponsibilitiesJob Responsibilities:The USGS EESC-LRL is in need of an experienced Scientist to provide services to support fisheries research, including the design and implementation of a conservation genomics project for wild Brook Trout in North Carolina.
- The scope of work will include providing expertise to support study design (, methods and sample selection), bioinformatic analysis of genomic sequence data, statistical analysis, and development of a final report and/or manuscript(s) detailing scientific findings.
