- Michael Baker International is seeking an energetic junior planner who is eager to learn and be an integral member of our hazard mitigation and resilience planning team in New Jersey.
- As a Planner I, you will work on grant application development, hazard mitigation plan updates, and supporting other climate resilience planning and policy projects for our clients.
- The position requires knowledge and enthusiasm for research, data compilation, public policy and governmental regulations, planning involving communities, infrastructure, transportation, water or similar sectors.
- RESPONSIBILITIES Research best practices and strategies to address impacts of climate change Support updates of hazard mitigation plans for local communities, counties Perform GIS mapping and analysis to support risk and vulnerability assessments Gather data and information on climate change, natural hazards, and other relevant topics.
- Draft reports and other planning documents Assist planning and execution of stakeholder engagement and outreach Hybrid position; In-office requirements for production and meetings Some local travel to meetings within state/region PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Urban and Regional Planning or related field 0-2+ years of work experience in the field Interested in reducing the impacts of climate change through planning.
