- The technologist will assist with the design and maintenance of experimental forest plots on Penn State’s Forestlands testing the capacity of forest to produce multiple ecosystem services such as carbon, wood, non-timber forest products, and wildlife habitat.
- At the research sites, maintaining study plots, designing seedling planting protocol, monitoring and measuring seedlings, and measuring and map overstory trees.
- Financial responsibilities include purchasing and travel logistics and approving reported work hours from undergraduate research assistant.
- Minimum requirements for this position include a Bachelor’s degree in a natural resources field, with preference given to forestry degrees or knowledge in dendrology and forest measurements, and one year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic knowledge of Excel, ArcGIS, and GPS use is desired.
