- JAX is hiring for a full time RESEARCH ASSISTANT I in the laboratory of Dr. Patsy Nishina, which primarily focuses on genetic diseases of the retina and retinal pigment epithelium.
- The successful applicant will be a highly motivated individual who can communicate effectively and work both independently and as part of a team on a full range of molecular biology techniques that include but are not limited to: DNA and RNA isolation, genotyping by standard PCR, designing and optimizing primers for PCR analysis, preparation of sequencing samples, western analysis, and conducting quantitative real time PCR analysis.
- The applicant will have the opportunity to learn and perform biochemical, histological, and immunohistochemical techniques as well as analyze high-throughput sequencing data.
- The candidate will be expected to assist in ocular phenotyping, specimen collection and mouse colony maintenance.
- BS or BA degree in biological sciences is required.
