- Performs comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders under the general supervision of the medical director of the sleep center and/or sleep center manager, or designee.
- Performs sleep study preparation and set-up procedures per departmental protocols including but not limited to: reviews the patient's history and verifies the medical order; explains testing procedure to the patient/caregiver; prepares and calibrates testing equipment to determine proper functioning and makes adjustments, if necessary; and applies electrodes and sensors according to accepted standards.
- Performs polysomnographic procedures following department protocols to ensure collection of appropriate data; maintains continuous visual and auditory monitoring of patient and clinical events on the recording.
- Documents routine observations including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and other clinical events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results.
