- A bachelor's degree in nursing can substitute for one year of post-licensure clinical nursing experience; a master’s degree in nursing can substitute for two years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience; and possession of a current Certified in Infection Control (CIC) certificate issued by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology can substitute for the one year of infection control program experience.
- Preferred Qualifications, Some nursing/infection control experience in a skilled nursing facility.
- Current State employee with permanent or contingent-permanent status as a Registered Nurse 3 (Infection Control) OR any NYS employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent service in a G-20 or higher title deemed eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).
- In May 2024, if a temporary NY HELPS employee is satisfactorily performing in the position, the appointment will be changed from temporary pending Civil Service Commission Action to permanent non-competitive and the official probationary period will begin.
- Develops and implements policies and procedures in support of an infection control and prevention program to eliminate or reduce risks of infection among individuals, employees, and visitors through daily surveillance.
