- Summary/Objective: The Recovery and Empowerment Specialist functions as a member of an integrated team to assist individuals with serious mental illness and to eliminate functional deficits and interpersonal/environmental barriers to restore their functioning and integration in their family, community, or culture.
- Intended to build skills and self-efficacy through Psychoeducation & Skill Building, Rehabilitation Counseling, Psychosocial Rehabilitation with an Employment Focus and Psychosocial Rehabilitation with an Education Focus to promote and facilitate community participation and independence, through solution-focused interventions, the Specialist delivers face-to-face, person-centered, and recovery-oriented mobile behavioral health supports in individual or group settings.
- Assists in the improvement of health wellness and personal self-care activities and skills needed to promote autonomy and independent living
- A Certified Peer possessing a certificate through the New York Peer Specialist Certification Board.
- Student Interns participating in a supervised educational program at an institution approved by the State Education Department leading to a degree and eligibility for NYS licensure or certification under the following professions are encouraged to apply: Creative Arts Therapist, Psychoanalyst, Psychologist, Marriage and Family Therapist, Mental Health Counselor, Nurse Practitioner, Physician, Physician Assistant, Psychiatrist, Registered Professional Nurse, and Social Worker.
