- Receives emergency 911 calls and dispatches appropriate agencies; is certified as proficient in Law Enforcement or Fire/Rescue dispatching; receives calls for the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office; logs calls into the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System; answers administrative telephone lines, acts as Lead Public Safety Dispatch on shift, fills in for Public Safety Dispatch Supervisor as required, works with little or no supervision, and performs other duties as assigned.
- Performs the duties of a Public Safety Dispatch Supervisor as needed;
- Thorough knowledge of geography of St. Mary's County road systems, waterways, police districts, and fire/EMS response areas and all surrounding counties;
- Thorough knowledge of emergency services' roles (groups, teams, agencies) utilized in emergency response;
- Effective January 1, 2019 Must have completed law enforcement communications certification training and Fire EMS Dispatch certification training and be released from training within 6 months of promotion;
