- Duties At the direction of the AU/CC, and in coordination with the Center Commanders, School Commandants, and Institute Directors, the Provost and CAO develops policies and strategic plans for implementing Air Force professional developmental programs, including pre-commissioning, professional military education, professional continuing education, and undergraduate and graduate education programs.
- Establishes institutional effectiveness assessment processes and guides the implementation of these processes.
- To the maximum extent possible, the CAO also serves as a subject matter expert in their field of academic specialization and prepares and delivers instruction in the core curriculum of AU schools and in specialized academic programs.
- Supervises the university's academic support functions, including the Academic Affairs staff, and oversees the full scope of activities in the Office of the Registrar, AU Library, AU Press and the AU Teaching and Learning Center, including strategic alignment with university initiatives and subordinate units/programs' needs.
