- The Principal Electrical Engineer is a supervisory level position within the Electrical and Traction Power Engineering Division that is responsible for technical and project leadership.
- Responsible for complete electrical design and calculations for assets including: facility electrical power; cathodic protection; fire alarm systems; emergency lighting; power distribution, conversion, control, and storage systems; lighting; battery uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and backup generators.
- substations, switchgear, rectifiers, traction power distribution, utility power, protective relays and PLCs, grounding, transformers, and cables.
- Field experience testing and restoration of power distribution facilities
- Assumes responsibility for planning, budgeting, overseeing, and implementing the most complex and large scale electrical engineering projects for the District; may serve as the resident engineer on assigned electrical engineering projects.
