Full-time
- Ever since we were born out of the University of Chicago’s work on the Manhattan Project in the 1940s, our goal has been to make an impact — from the atomic to the human to the global scale.
- The main responsibility is to advance the applications of plasma focused ion beam technology for biological specimen preparation and subsequent imaging and chemical analysis with synchrotron-based X-ray microscopy.
- Examples of applications include structural and chemical analysis of single bacterial cells, bacterial colonies, subcellular organelles of mammalian cells, 3D cellular aggregates, and tissue sections, among others.
- The candidate will also actively contribute to the operation and further development of multiple instruments for biological applications, including synchrotron-based microscopy instruments, a dual-beam SEM, and a confocal light microscope with a cryogenic stage
- Ph. D. degree with the focus on biology, biochemistry, bioimaging or related disciplines within the last three years.
