- As a Planner/Estimator (Work Item Specification Writer) you will report directly to the Supervisory Planner/Estimator and will be responsible for writing Work Specifications, conducting ship checks, and estimating labor, material, and subcontractor work at the paragraph and line-item level for U.S. Navy Ship repair work, alterations and modifications.
- Develop work items/specifications in accordance with Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM) 4-E requirements utilizing NAVSEA instructions and pertinent NAVSEA Standard Items, and Class and Local Standard Work Templates.
- Knowledge of U.S. Navy ship construction, shipboard systems and equipment with particular experience in structural systems
- Experience with Navy Maintenance Database (NMD) and using available application programs to develop Work Items/Specifications and labor, material and cost estimates in accordance with NAVSEA instructions and directives
- Knowledge of ship fitting and welding practices, NDT, rigging, deck covering, preservation and repairs to various synthetic materials used in construction of Naval Vessels
