- You will update patient information, collect and store specimens in accordance with established procedures, and explain the process of venipuncture or other specimen collection clearly and courteously.
- Your role will also involve demonstrating techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles, understanding physicians' orders, matching laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing specimens as required by test orders.
- You will ensure all test requisitions are correct, package specimens for transport, store samples according to required temperatures, and follow specific protocols to maintain the integrity of the specimen.
- Additionally, you will comply with OSHA and DEP regulations, attend annual department trainings, and handle telephone inquiries by reading laboratory results.
