The Outpatient Coding Auditor monitors coding and provides quality reviews for all outpatient, day surgery and observation accounts. This position assists the Coding Manager in training and education for Coder I and Coder II. Assists the Coding Manager in training and education of coding staff.<ul><li>Performs quality reviews of coders ensuring accuracy with coding guidelines and policies for complete, precise, and consistent coding.</li><li>Reviews include Outpatient ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS and Modifiers.</li><li>Maintains up-to-date working knowledge of coding guidelines. Acts as a resource and point person for issues and questions for coders, customers or project teams.</li><li>Provides feedback to coders and providers on coding corrections, appropriately citing authoritative resources.</li><li>Assists with the interpretation of codes and other information requested for accurate code assignment.</li><li>Communicates with management regarding clinical, coding, and reimbursement issues as needed.</li><li>Utilizes Epic, 3-M encoder, and computer-assisted coding (CAC) software as directed.</li></ul> Required Qualifications:<ul><li>Associates in health information technology or a related field of study from an accredited college or university.</li><li>3 plus years of coding experience in a hospital setting.</li></ul>OR<ul><li>High school diploma, GED or equivalent.</li><li>6 plus years of coding experience in a hospital setting.</li></ul> AND Candidates must have and keep current at least one of the following professional certifications: <ul><li>CPC (Certified Professional Coder)</li><li>CCS (Certified Coding Specialist)</li><li>RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator)</li><li>RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician)</li></ul> Preferred Qualifications:<ul><li>American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) granted: Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT).</li></ul>
