- The Organ Allocation Coordinator 1 may act as the primary liaison with the transplant centers, research facilitates, hospital personnel, and recovery site personnel.
- May coordinate the staff in the operating room for local procurements and abroad (i.e., requiring flight transportation) with clinical recovery and preservation of organs for transplantation, and undertakes extensive communications with transplant center, according to established guidelines.
- Assists in making the necessary call to transplant centers to place the kidneys and pancreas, according to the UNOS requirements.
- Familiar with all medical aspects of organ donation and bring any questions to the attention of the administrator involved.
- Accurately collects, records, and maintains clinical records of donors and recipients as required by the program in accordance with UNOS and CMS standards and requirements.
