- Description Leidos | Gibbs & Cox, has an opening for a Senior-Level Marine Engineer to support the USCG Ship Design Team. This position is a hybrid position with 2-3 days per week of onsite support at the USCG Headquarters in Washington, DC. Primary Responsibilities Evaluate effect of new or modified subsystems on overall system performance.
- Review and adjudicate system design specifications, test requirements, Departures from Specification (DFS’s), Request for Waiver (RFW), and Engineering Changes (EC’s).
- Familiarity with USN, USCG, ABS and/or commercial ship design rules and regulations.
- Depending on engineering background of candidate, the appropriate systems assigned may include one or more of the following: HVAC&R systems (including heating/cooling load, duct sizing and chill water piping calculations and equipment selection), auxiliary systems, power monitoring and control systems, electric propulsion, and power generation.
- 1 year of experience related to federal ship or boat building acquisition programs.
