- Position Focus: Yale School of Public Health (YSPH) seeks a Managing Director for the Viral Emergence Research Initiative (Verena) NSF Biology Integration Institutes (BII) program, which supports a range of research, education, and outreach initiatives related to viral ecology, evolution, and emergence.
- Reporting to the Principal Investigator of the BII program, the qualified candidate will manage an international network of scientists across nearly a dozen universities, and oversee the development of education, outreach, and team science programs, while providing additional support for the core research activities of the program.
- Manage educational programs across the team, including activities for the doctoral cohort, including workshops, rotations, and potentially other programs; team-wide in-person and virtual workshops; and potentially the development of new courses, including a course-based undergraduate research experience (CURE), monitoring program activities and assessing risks.
- Develop and manage a library of team-wide resources, including course materials, workshop materials, and resources for science communication and other outreach, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts, and professional development.
- Identifies and evaluates potential future funding sources, and contributes to the submission of grants and contracts supporting the program, including the annual submission and writing of all content areas and budgetary sections of grant applications.
