- In conjunction with the licensed independent provider or RN, participates in the assessment, planning, and evaluation of the nursing care delivered.
- Accurately obtains vital signs, elicits information about a patients’ basic health status, administers relevant nursing care within scope of practice and as directed by the Licensed Independent Provider (LIP)/Registered Nurse (RN);documents all nursing interventions and the patient’s response in the electronic medical record for all assigned patients.
- Performs routine tests that may include but not limited to: EKG, vision and hearing screening, and the collection of specimens for laboratory and point of care testing.
- Participates in prescription management tasks including the preparation of new prescriptions and renewals requiring LIP approval, prior authorizations and medication reconciliation.
- Climate: The Licensed Practical Nurse influences others by establishing a climate for optimal patient care, mutually supportive collegial relationships and professional development.
