- This position is located within the Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Office of Science and Technology, Assessment and Monitoring Division, with one vacancy in Silver Spring, MD.
- Responsibilities The incumbent of this position serves as the Assessment Branch Chief supporting national level oversight, coordination, and reporting for programs on the science applicable to management and conservation of living marine resources (fish, marine mammals, sea turtles, corals), particularly through coordination and advancement of assessments.
- Develop communications products for the Director, Office of Science and Technology and Chief, Assessment and Monitoring Division needed in briefing and negotiating program priorities with Congress, senior leaders of the Department of Commerce, and other federal agencies, fishery management councils and interstate commissions and international and non-governmental organizations.
- At least 6 semester hours in aquatic subjects such as limnology, ichthyology, fishery biology, aquatic botany, aquatic fauna, oceanography, fish culture, or related courses in the field of fishery biology; and At least 12 semester hours in the animal sciences in such subjects as general zoology, vertebrate zoology, comparative anatomy, physiology, entomology, parasitology, ecology, cellular biology, genetics, or research in these fields.
