- SUBFUNCTION DEFINITION: The Infection Preventionist develops, reviews, and updates the facility's protocols and procedures for infection control and prevention and insures adherence through rounding, education & intervention; performs surveillance for nosocomial infection; & acts as a consultant/collaborator on multiple committees house-wide.
- Complete necessary reports, review ICRAs and facilities and construction documentation, and maintain records to document infection prevention and control activities.
- Obtain Certification in Infection Prevention and Control within 2 years of hire.
- Develop currency and professional development in field through continuing education, literature, and seminars.
- May participate in efforts for education and advancement in the field in organizations such as APIC, ASHRAE, ASM, SHEA, PIDS, IDSA, etc.
