- Directs the work of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) while on duty
- Routine duties shall include providing health care services to individuals eligible for services in accordance with the self-governance compact and funding agreement between the Cherokee Nation and the United States executed under the authority of the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act. Assures all patients receive medical care to the paramedic level according to the Cherokee Nation Ambulance Service Protocols.
- Operates and monitors specialized equipment such as mechanical cardiopulmonary resuscitators, EKG monitors, cardiac defibrillators, laryngoscopes, oro-pharyngeal suction equipment, oxygen delivery devices, and IV infusion pumps per paramedic protocols and medical control.
- Administers therapeutic measures as prescribed per protocol or medical control such as initiation of IV fluids, wound irrigation, naso-gastric intubation, cardiac monitoring, defibrillation, tracheal intubation and thoracentesis.
- Must possess and maintain a Paramedic License issued by the Oklahoma State Department of Health.
