As a Hospice Aide/ Certified Nursing Assistant, you will:
<ul>
<li>Report directly to the Administrator, Executive Director or Patient Care Manager Senior and function under the direction, instruction and supervision of the Registered Nurse and/or Clinical Supervisor.</li>
<li>Help the patient to maintain good personal hygiene.</li>
<li>Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy environment.</li>
<li>Prepare and serve light meals.</li>
<li>Assist in feeding patient when needed.</li>
<li>Assist the patient in ambulation.</li>
<li>Assist with the safe use of a walker or wheelchair as taught and supervised by the nurse.</li>
<li>Assist with light housekeeping tasks such as emptying trash and changing linens.</li>
<li>Assist with certain treatments as ordered on the aide plan of care and as allowable in state-specific regulations.</li>
<li>Attempt to promote patient's mental alertness through involvement in activities of interest.</li>
<li>Give basic emotional and psychological support to the patient and other members of the household.</li>
<li>Report any change in the patient's mental or physical condition or home situation to the Registered Nurse and members of the interdisciplinary team.</li>
<li>Demonstrate basic care to the primary caregiver.</li>
<li>Practice infection control measures and standard precautions.</li>
<li>Provide accurate documentation with visit itineraries</li>
<li>Attend staff meetings.</li>
<li>Participate in at least one Quality Improvement activity yearly, as assigned by supervisor.</li>
<li>Complete documentation in a timely manner as outlined in orientation.</li>
</ul>
About You
Hospice Aide/ CNA Requirements:
<ul>
<li>Hospice heart: compassionate, kind and empathetic to your patients and their families.</li>
<li>Comfortable providing care wherever the patient calls "home".</li>
<li>Demonstrate flexibility and composure while supporting others in a time of crisis.</li>
<li>Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.</li>
<li>Six (6) months of patient care experience in hospice, home health, ICU, geriatric, or oncology strongly preferred.</li>
<li>Additional, preferred experience to help you be successful in a hospice role: hospital Staff RN, Med Surg, PACU, Float pool, ER or emergency room, critical care, acute care, cardiac, geriatric, admissions, wound care, telemetry, nursing home or travel.</li>
<li>Current driver's license and automobile insurance.</li>
<li>Current CPR certification</li>
