- The SWHB Perinatal Workforce Pathway is a brand-new domain of the South Ward Healthy Beginnings Program, shaped in response that there will be significant deficits in the national perinatal workforce over the next three decades, and New Jersey's perinatal workforce is no exception.
- The SWHB Perinatal Workforce Pathway program is designed to increase the number of maternity care providers and other perinatal health workers who offer culturally congruent support to women throughout their pregnancies, labor/delivery, and the postpartum period.
- 1) Doulas: Labor assistants who provides physical and emotional support to gestational parents during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum period.
- 2) Certified Lactation Counselors (CLC): CLC's support the lactating parent through any issues or challenges they are experiencing.
