- Perform work that involves using Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and/or a variety of Radio Frequency (RF) or Electromagnetic (EM) locating equipment to locate various customer owned and maintained (private) underground facilities such as private gas, electric, cable/tv, street lighting, telecommunications, sanitary sewer, water, etc.
- Includes visual inspection of predefined construction areas, and reading and interpretation of utility maps, if provided, to determine the presence of underground utilities.
- In many instances, as-builts or utility maps do not exist, so technician should be very familiar with underground infrastructure and how to use work site datums such as meter sets, pole drops, transformers, valve boxes, pedestals, manholes/handholes, etc.
- Efficiently operate Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) equipment and various types of Radio Frequency (RF) detection equipment to locate and customer owned & maintained (private) underground utilities (e.g., gas, electric, cable, fiber, water, sanitary/sewer, etc.)
- for underground utilities and locate the run of the utility when maps are not provided.
