- NASA Ames Simulation Laboratories (SimLabs) at NASA Ames Research Center consists of the Vertical Motion Simulator (VMS), with a 60 ft.
- vertical motion system and interchangeable cabs, which can be customized to simulate any aerospace vehicle; the Crew Vehicle Systems Research facility (CVSRF), which houses the B747-400 flight simulator; and Future Flight Central (FFC), an Air Traffic Control/Air Traffic Management (ATC/ATM) simulation facility dedicated to solving present and emerging capacity problems of the nation's airports.
- The Flight Simulator Technician position performs critical electronics installation, testing, and maintenance on these highly specialized and one-of-a-kind research simulators, enabling SimLabs to remain a world-class facility performing leading edge aerospace experiments.
- Monitor, test, analyze, maintain and operate SimLabs equipment, including motion-based flight simulators, Air Traffic Control (ATC) simulation laboratories, audio and video equipment, and various simulation hardware systems;
- Install, configure and maintain the following equipment: Vertical Motion Simulator (VMS) systems including image generation systems, host computers, graphic engines, cockpit displays including Head Down Display (HDD) monitors and Out-The-Window (OTW) projectors, pilot control loading systems and I/O interface units
