- Performs preventative maintenance and routine repairs to cars, trucks and heavy equipment such as jump starts, changing of lights, wipers, tires, minor repair of electrical wiring, tail lamps, headlamps, spotlights, and component change such as alternators, starters, and "hang on parts".
- Alternatively, possess State mechanic certification or NIASE certification in at least two (2) automobile truck repair categories, in place of the one (1) year of automotive school requirement.
- Must obtain State mechanic certification or NIASE certification within one (1) year of hire, focusing on automobile and light truck repair categories: engine repair, front end, suspension and steering systems, brakes and braking systems, and electrical systems.
- Capable of identifying repair needs and communicating them to the Fleet Maintenance Technician II.
