Qualifications <ul><li>Hold valid Illinois Professional Educator’s License with appropriate endorsement.</li><li>Minimum 3 years’ experience in working with students with emotional, behavioral, intellectual and academic needs in the area of counseling and social work.</li><li>Knowledgeable about the IDEA and the laws that govern working with students with disabilities. </li></ul>Position Summary The employee in this position must provide innovative practice to students with emotional, behavioral, intellectual, and academic needs. Essential Duties: (Other duties may be assigned.) <ul><li>To organize and implement social emotional needs for students who are identified with counseling services through their IEP.</li><li>Serve as LEA at special education domain meetings.</li><li>Co-Facilitate Student Support Team Meetings; identifies training that facilitates use of best practices in the special education evaluation and pre-intervention MTSS process; collects and maintains inventory of testing protocols.</li><li>Ability to create, write, monitor and facilitate IEPs for students on caseload; including written evaluation reports and goals.</li><li>Participate in parent meetings outside of the IEP to support student needs.</li><li>Prepare materials and plan daily instruction appropriate to provide individual and group counseling services.</li><li>Establish reasonable expectations and keep detailed records for students on caseload.</li><li>Extensive understanding of Response to Intervention the areas of academic and social emotional learning for students at the high school level.</li><li>Deliver procedural requirements for Special Education: case study evaluations, facilitate Functional Behavioral Analysis, ensure timeliness of evaluations, complete assessments that help design effective interventions.</li><li>Perform behavior observations for the purpose of problem solving, developing classroom management strategies, creating interventions for students who are having attentional, executive functioning and or social-emotional difficulties.</li><li>Collaborate with administration and teachers to plan and conduct staff development in identified areas of need.</li><li>Provide outreach services to students and families in the form of possible home visits, phone calls and written correspondence.</li><li>Provide crisis/emergency intervention to students and families.</li><li>Maintain desirable discipline standards in the classroom and assist, when needed, in other school areas with student disciplinary management.</li><li>Develop and administer appropriate evaluations as it relates to the needs of students with varying disabilities.</li><li>Be sensitive to physical, intellectual, emotional and learning disabilities of students and take appropriate measures to assist them.</li><li>Promote student respect for the rights of others in the classroom.</li><li>Recognize safety and health hazards and work to eliminate them.</li><li>Support and promote the student activities program by attendance at athletic and activities contests or events.</li><li>Attend department meetings.</li><li>Work with Division Head and other staff members in curriculum development as it relates to social/emotional learning.</li><li>Observe all professional days and maintain positive professional relations with colleagues.</li><li>Hold high expectations for all students and demonstrate a deep belief that all students can learn and succeed.</li><li>Communicate openly with students, staff, parents and other stakeholders regarding student’s achievement and progress in the classroom.</li><li>Commitment to equity and eliminating systemic obstacles for students of color.</li><li>Provide a positive image of the high school within the community and the profession. </li></ul>Job Responsibilities: (Others responsibilities may be assigned.) <ul><li>Works within the policies and regulations of the OPRF; Illinois public acts and regulations as described by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE); and applicable Federal laws, regulations and guidelines applicable to the education of high school students and staff.</li><li>Makes professional decisions that demonstrate support of the mission, goals and best interests of OPRF as expressed by Board of Education approved documents including the Strategic Plan and Building Improvement Plans. </li></ul>Skills, Physical Demands And The Work Environment In order to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform all essential duties and responsibilities.
