- Contribute to strategic direction and oversight for the training program, ensuring it meets the requirements of ABMGG, ACGME, and other governing entities.
- Coordinate the didactic curriculum including trainee and faculty presentations and graduate courses offered through the Foundation for the Advancement of Education in Sciences (FAES) making changes and updates as necessary related to the growth of the program and field of genetics and genomics.
- Prepare an updated annual supplementary in-training exam and biannual board review curriculum targeted to the ABMGG General Examination.
- Provide ongoing faculty development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and expertise.
- The DGE will assist the Genetics Consult Service, providing expert diagnosis and management recommendations for patients referred by other clinicians across the NIH. Furthermore, the DGE will actively engage with other clinical research groups throughout the NIH Clinical Center, offering educational workshops and consultations to enhance their understanding of genetic factors in various disease processes and empower them to confidently manage patients with potential genetic involvement.
