- This is a high-profile professional/managerial position responsible for advocating for MTA positions with congressional staff, USDOT, and other federal agencies and advising MTA senior staff and the Chair/CEO on federal legislative and regulatory affairs with a goal of increasing MTA federal funding and ensuring regulations support MTA priorities.
- Thorough knowledge of federal government legislative structure, committees, procedures and policies is mandatory.
- Must have political sensitivity, and ability to develop cogent strategies to deal with the specific federal regulatory and legislative issues that face the MTA and its operating agencies.
- Incumbent must possess a unique combination of political savvy, resourcefulness, supervisory skills, analytical ability and communications skills to execute the MTA’s federal strategy and coordinate both MTA and agency government relations staff in the course of investigating, analyzing and communicating issues to MTA staff and elected officials.
- Graduate degree in Public Administration, Legislative Affairs or its equivalent is preferred.
