- Act as nutritional consultant and resource to members of the health care team.
- Provides comprehensive nutritional care including assessment, Nutrition Diagnosis, implementation of a care plan, counseling, education, and evaluation of outcomes to patients, families, and associates.
- Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics or related field that meets the requirements of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
- This can be acquired through the completion of an Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics approved four year Baccalaureate degree program and an Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics accredited advanced Training program.
- Requires a professional level of knowledge of chemistry, physiology, caloric and nutrient values and physical properties of foodstuffs with an understanding of medical nutrition therapy.
